Our History

Crafting excellence since 1850

We are dedicated to creating exceptional cookware that brings joy to every kitchen and inspires culinary creativity.

Made in France Since 1850

Founded in 1850 and based in Marcigny, a small town in the Burgundy region of France, Emile Henry has built a worldwide reputation for producing exceptional ceramic ovenware, gourmet cooking products and bakeware. Still owned and run by the Henry family, the company continues to manufacture all of its products in France using Burgundy clay and its proprietary High-Resistance Oven Ceramic, created through a state-of-the-art manufacturing process.

With Roots in Burgundy

Burgundy is renowned for its world-famous wines, grown in the region’s mineral-rich limestone soils. This unique terroir not only shapes its wines, but also the soils and clays used in the special ceramic formulations at the heart of every Emile Henry product. These natural materials form the foundation of Emile Henry’s exceptional ceramic cookware.

Around the world, professional chefs and home cooks alike value Emile Henry for its thoughtfully designed range of products and shapes, each created specifically for cooking and baking. Every piece is carefully proportioned, with the correct depth and practical features that make Emile Henry cookware a pleasure to use. From baking dishes and pizza stones to loaf tins, casserole dishes, stew pots, handcrafted pie dishes, tagines and braisers, discerning food lovers recognise the quality and craftsmanship in every Emile Henry creation.

Why Chefs Love Our Products

  • Burgundy clay gently and evenly diffuses heat right to the centre of the dish, ensuring food is cooked consistently throughout. This even cooking enhances flavours and aromas, while the clay’s superior heat-retention properties keep food warmer for longer when resting on the dining table or kitchen worktop.
  • All Emile Henry products are designed to go directly from freezer to oven, thanks to their exceptional resistance to thermal shock. They are suitable for use under the grill and in the microwave, offering outstanding versatility in everyday cooking.
  • Exceptional durability means Emile Henry products do not chip or crack easily. Food can be cut directly on the surface without scratching or damaging the ceramic.
  • Naturally smooth, non-porous surfaces prevent baked-on or burnt food from sticking. This makes cleaning effortless, and all Emile Henry products are dishwasher safe for added convenience.

There is no lead or cadmium in any Emile Henry products, and every piece is 100% food safe. Available in a wide range of colours, the glazes will not craze, discolour or fade over time.

Confidence in quality is backed by a limited household 10-year warranty, covering breakage caused by defective workmanship across all Emile Henry products.
